Do players need to download an app?
No. ScrambleBoard runs entirely in the phone's web browser. Players scan the QR poster (or type the short join code at scrambleboard.com), claim their name, and start scoring. There is nothing to install and no account required to score.
Does it work if the course has no cell signal?
Yes — scoring is offline-first. Every score saves to the phone instantly and syncs automatically when signal returns, and the scoring page keeps working through dead zones, even after a page refresh. A status chip shows exactly what's still waiting to send, so a rural back-nine never blocks scoring. The paper scorecard at the turn-in table always remains the ultimate fallback.
How do players see the leaderboard?
Everyone with the join link sees the live leaderboard on their phone — players, spouses, sponsors, the beer cart. For the clubhouse, open the TV board URL on any browser, press fullscreen, and you have a big-screen scoreboard. No casting hardware required.
What formats are supported?
Scramble (team), stroke play, and Stableford at launch, with gross or net scoring and flights. Skins, closest-to-pin, and long-drive side games are included on the Event Pro plan.
Where does the course data come from?
ScrambleBoard ships with a Minnesota course database (par, yardage, and stroke index per hole). Course staff can verify and edit their own data, and every tournament snapshots the course at creation so a later re-rating never rewrites past results.
Can I export scores or post to GHIN?
You can export any round or event to CSV. For handicaps, ScrambleBoard gives you a guided "copy to GHIN" summary and deep link — we label estimates clearly and never present them as an official Handicap Index®. Direct GHIN posting depends on USGA program access.
What does it cost?
Casual scoring and your first live event are free. A full tournament is $79 (launch price $49), and pro shops can license unlimited on-site events for $499 a year. See the pricing page for details.
Can I use this for a charity fundraiser?
ScrambleBoard is tournament scoring — not a fundraising platform. It does not handle online registration, entry-fee or donation collection, or sponsor-fundraising pages. If your event needs those, that's a separate product we're building; tell us on the contact page and we'll let you know when it's ready.
Do you support season-long leagues?
ScrambleBoard is built for individual tournaments and outings — one event, scored day-of. Season-long leagues (weekly standings, points, subs, playoffs) are a different animal and are getting their own dedicated tool. For now you can run each league night as its own ScrambleBoard event; if a full league manager is what you need, let us know on the contact page and we'll keep you posted.
